WACV 2027 Call For Tutorial Proposals

 We are requesting proposals for tutorials to be held at the IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV 2027), to be held in Orlando, Florida, from January 4–8, 2027. Tutorials must be presented in-person.

Accepted tutorials will be presented either on Monday, January 4 or Tuesday, January 5.

Tutorials should aim to give a comprehensive overview of a specific computer vision topic. A good tutorial should be educational rather than just a cursory survey of techniques, providing technical details and key insights into the topic and its applications. The topic should be of sufficient relevance and importance to attract significant interest from the computer vision community. The audience for WACV tutorials typically consists of graduate students studying computer vision, but also includes researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government. We invite proposals for both half-day and full-day tutorials, but anticipate that most tutorials will be half-day, unless the topic is expected to attract widespread community attention and/or be of such depth as to require the full day.

Proposals should be submitted in PDF format and should not exceed three pages (excluding biographies). All proposals must include the following information:

  • Proposed title
  • Proposers’ names, titles, affiliations, emails, and brief bio sketches (no more than 200 words and can include links to the presenter’s webpage or Google Scholar link).
  • Preference for half- or full-day event (the latter requires a brief justification)
  • Course description with list of topics to be covered, along with a brief outline and important details; if relevant, include coordination plan among presenters
  • Expected target audience and the estimated number of attendees
  • List of citations and/or URLs to relevant publications and products by the presenters, and to other relevant related work
  • Links to a few previous recorded talks given by the presenters (if available)
  • Description of and/or links to any planned materials or resources to be distributed to the tutorial attendees
  • A description of how this proposal relates to tutorials/short courses appearing at CVPR, ICCV and ECCV within the last three years
  • Social impact of the tutorial (optional)

The proposals will be evaluated based on their educational value, interest and relevance, and the track record and expertise of the organizers/presenter. We especially encourage proposals involving diverse organizing teams and communities currently under-represented at WACV.
